Duniyapur: The next Award-winning Pakistani Drama

Duniyapur is one of the most popular dramas these days, airing on Green Entertainment. The drama is written by Raadain Shah and directed by Shahid Shafaat, presented under the banner of Multiverse Entertainment. Duniyapur’s cast includes a list full of talented actors like Manzar Sehbai, Nayyar Ejaz, Naumaan Ijaz, Khushhal Khan, Shamyl Khan, Sami Khan, Ramsha Khan, and many others. The drama has a unique story, which is why viewers are hooked on this one. It revolves around the powerful ruler Nawab Dil Awaiz of Duniyapur.

Fans often get curious about where Duniyapur is located in Pakistan, but in reality, it is just a fictional city. The actual locations where the drama was shot include Gujranwala, Islamabad, and Siran Valley, showcasing the beauty of Pakistan.

The drama Duniyapur has set the benchmark as the most expensive drama in history, with a budget of almost ₹25–30 crore. Well, the high-quality production, visual effects, and talented actors say it all.

Many fans compare this drama to the Bollywood movie Ramleela, the Indian web series Mirzapur, and even Game of Thrones. Talking about these similarities, the actors said in a candid interview:

“No, it’s not inspired by Game of Thrones. The story isn’t inspired at all, but we have already talked about it, that the characters do have a similarity. Like I told Khushhal, the character is giving Daenerys and Cersei energy. Yes, the story is not the same, but the energy matches with the characters.” said Ramsha Khan.

Khushhal Khan agreed with her point and added further on Duniyapur’s comparison with Mirzapur:

“There is no similarity between Duniyapur and Mirzapur. I think people are comparing it because the names are rhyming, like Mirzapur and Duniyapur. If the makers had chosen a different name, the fans might not be discussing it as much as they are doing now.”
